Κύριες υπευθυνότητες:
1. Κλινική
  • Να συντελείτε διαδικασίες χειρουργείου και να επιβλέπετε άλλους να τις κάνουν.
  • Αποτελεσματική επικοινωνία με την ομάδα φροντίδας ακολουθώντας τους κανόνες
  • Προσεκτική χρήση μηχανημάτων
  • Βάρδιες και συμμετοχή σε όλα τα καθήκοντα στην υπηρεσία
2. Διαχειριστική
  • Ανάληψη ευθυνών του τμήματος χειρουργείου σε περίπτωση που λείπουν οι υπεύθυνοι της ομάδας
  • Οργάνωση της δουλειάς και όλων των εργασιών που θεωρούνται απαραίτητες
  • Υπευθυνότητα για την υγεία, ασφάλεια και πειθαρχεία του προσωπικού
  • Διαβεβαίωση ότι ακολουθούνται οι όροι και κανόνες του τμήματος
3. Εκπαιδευτική
  • Εκπαίδευση και ανάπτυξη στο εργασιακό περιβάλλον
  • Αξιολόγηση εκπαιδευόμενων και προσωπικού
  • Υποστήριξη στην εκπαίδευση και προσανατολισμό του τμήματος
4. Ειδικές υπευθυνότητες
  • Επίδειξη ηγετικής ικανότητας.
  • Συμμετοχή σε έρευνες και ευρήματα
  • Συνεισφορά σε ιδέες για βελτίωση της υπηρεσίας

Job Summary:
  • To be responsible for the assessment of care needs: the development, implementation and
    evaluation of programmes of care.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that patient care and patient and staff safety are maintained.
  • To supervise the work of other staff, qualified and/or unqualified
  • To formally assess basic and post basic students
  • To take charge of a theatre list in the absence of a team leader
Main Responsibilities:

1. Clinical

  • To carry out theatre procedures and treatments and supervise others doing
    the same – scrub, recovery, and anaesthetic assistance within own competence
  • Provide skills in the checking, setting up and first line maintenance of perioperative
    equipment within own competence.
  • Enhance patient care by ensuring effective communication with the care
    team within and outside Theatres
  • To ensure that the theatre area is a safe working environment and that the
    practices followed in these locations have due regard to the health and safety of
    all present.
  • Provide accurate and timely collection and submission of patient, nursing and
    manpower information by using the appropriate manual and computerised
    systems.
  • Take reasonable steps to ensure that the service is being provided to the quality
    standards set within the trust Policies and Procedures.
  • To ensure that the service is maintained to the best possible standard it
    may be necessary from time to time for the post holder to be moved to
    alternative duties within his/her competence
  • To be aware of and practice the careful use of resources in relation to
    equipment and disposable itemsAdhere to the systems and processes in place for infection control management
    and participate in relevant audits within their clinical area
  • The holder of this post will work shifts and will participate in on call duties as
    required to maintain the service.
2. Managerial
  • To take charge of the theatre department out of hours in the absence of the
    Team Leaders.
  • Organise the workload of the theatre, allocating tasks as necessary
  • Deploy staff to make the most effective use of resources
  • Assume responsibility for the health, safety, welfare and discipline of all staff
    within own control
  • To ensure that all policies and procedures of the Trust and the requirements of
    the Health and Safety at Work Act are adhered to.
  • To liase with support services to ensure satisfactory levels of service and
    where deficiencies occur, to bring them to the attention of the Line Manager
  • Recognise the value of good communication within the team and contribute to
    the enhancement of the process
  • To prepare accurate statements concerning accidents, mishaps and complaints
    following agreed policies and procedures

3. Educational

  • To be aware of own training and development needs within the clinical
    environment
  • To teach and assess students and other staff
  • To act as an assessor/preceptor
  • To assist the Training Co-ordinator with the induction and orientation of staff
    into the Operating theatre Department
4. Special Responsibilities
  • To demonstrate leadership by example.
  • To actively participate in research and promote the use of relevant research
    findings
  • Participate in the implementation of change within the Operating Theatre Department
  • Contribute ideas for improving the service
  • Any other duties delegated by the Clinical Team Leader, appropriate to the
  • grade.
It is each practitioner’s responsibility to ensure that they are currently registered with the
NMC/HPC in accordance with statutory and Trust requirements and to comply with the
Trust and Theatre policies and procedures
Generic clauses
Infection control
Staff will work to minimise any risk to clients, the public and other staff from Healthcare
Associated Infection including MRSA and C difficle by ensuring they are compliant with the
Health Act 2006 – Code of Practice For The Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated
Infections (They Hygiene Code); and by ensuring they are familiar with the Trust’s Infection
Control Polices, located on the Intranet.
All employees must comply with the Trust Infection Control Policy. All employees must
attend infection control training as required within their department or as directed by their
line manager.
